Scripture Jumper

Accused of being a scripture jumper…what?

If there is one thing I insist on it is the authority of God’s word. I’ve been called a few negative things in my life, but never a scripture jumper. If I were, that would be fine, for so I am. I do jump from scripture to scripture throughout the Bible to prove a point, a scriptural mandate, or to establish a sure foundation of faith. I do not jump from scripture to scripture based on a whim or someone’s personal interpretation. I often call or e-mail a Hebrew/Greek scholar asking for the English meaning of a word. Splitting hairs does make a difference sometimes in what you believe. I say, "Know what you believe and why you believe it. Do your homework."

Taking the time to jump from scripture to scripture is a good practice. As a believer, you should be able to defend your faith. Radical faith, like going to the mission field to spread the good news, is Biblical. It may cost you, but Jesus is Lord and He can lead you to be radical.

Recently, a new found brother, pastor said to me,
“Andy, I love your book, White Knuckle Faith, especially chapter 12.”
I was surprised and asked him, "Why?"
"Because you are speaking the truth to the body of Christ and it’s leaders. You are encouraging them to obey God’s word”.
I had to give sincere thanks. It made me read again what I wrote. I have to be sure I am living it.

Blessing and favor as you serve the Lord!
