Jesus was Happy

The Seventy Sent Out….Jesus was happy.

I have asked many people if they know where in the Bible it says Jesus was happy. Sorry to say that most of the paintings of Jesus give him a very somber look; sad, burdened or even depressed. There’s one place in the Bible where it says Jesus was happy. My preferred translation, New American Standard says, “At that very time he rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit…”. Luke 10:21

Why was Jesus so happy? Earlier in that chapter we read that He admonished the disciples for doing such a great job of ministering to the crowds he had just sent them to. The sick were healed, demons were cast out and “the Kingdom of God had come near…” Jesus was happy that the disciples “got it,” preaching and ministering” even to place that Jesus had to call them out and say, “don’t rejoice that the demons are subject to you but that your names are written in heaven”.

As read YOU read this it’s so exciting that you “got it” and “you’re doing it,” taking the message of the love of God to the nations. Keep up the good work.
